Notan means "dark, light" and is a design concept. It studies the balance of positive and negative space. 7th grade students created these engaging, high contrast collage artworks. Students discussed art careers. When asked to describe in writing which career they thought sounded most enjoyable, students had some great responses!
What's more exciting than crushing soda cans and printing with bubble wrap? Not much! 8th grade students printed using bubble wrap to create a dynamic "bubbly" background for this carbonated beverage, mixed media artwork. To draw realistic aluminum cans, students learned about value scales and shading. Drawing from observation, students crushed the can twice and drew the can at all three stages.
8th grade students created themed containers out of clay. Students used the slab, coil, and pinch techniques to sculpt the clay. An outstanding amount of variety was shown! A panda, tardis, coffee cup, sock monkey, football, and pac man container were made in addition to many others!
